Now that you have found the blog...please address the following:
1) What are you looking forward to learning most in this class?
Rules of the BLOG. No profanity, be honest, think critically, be respectful of others opinions, post at least one time and respond at least once.
I am looking forward in this class to learn about how our country works and the system in which we reside. This class is going to be good for all students to think about problems in our country and possible ways to solve them. The idea of the 'power of the people' is something i am interested in learning about this semester.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to discussing/learning about current events and controversial topics regarding our government. I am also interested in seeing how our country matches up with other countries when it comes to certain policies, government involvement, and as Lindsey said, how much power the people really have.
ReplyDeleteI am also excited to be learning about current events this year such as terrorism and how the government has dealt and currently deals with it. I'm also looking forward to learning more about the people who have ran and run our country enough so that I'm able to partake in conversations about our government outside of the classroom.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in learning what power the people really have (for instance why the Electoral College still exists) and discussing controversial topics (how they differ from other governments views).
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in learning this year about the current events happening around the world and the possible ways our government plans to go about dealing with them. I'm also looking forward to learning about the lessons our country has learned while the government has evolved to support us as a leading nation.
ReplyDeleteThat is all great to hear. One quick thing I forgot to mention. You must included your real name as your "screen name" so I know whom to credit for each post.
ReplyDeleteI am most excited to learn about our government and current issues happening today like terrorism and the economic recession. I also want to learn about the ways in which our leaders and the citizens of our country deal with the issues we face, and how the government has tried to prevent bad things from happening. As with most people in our class, I'm interested in my power and "my voice".
ReplyDeletebtw you have all done that so far, that message is for everyone who posts from here on out.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in learning what the government really does for us and for others around the world. I want to learn how to know who to choose during elections and make the smart choice and not just a random pick.
ReplyDeleteI have a basic understanding of Government and politics, however I would like to learn how to change laws or amend them. Additionally, I would like to learn about what our elected officials do when they are not in session.
ReplyDeleteDuring this year, I would be really interested in learning/discussing current events going on in the world, such as the conflicts in Libya and Syria. Also, I would like to learn about how the U.S. deals with terrorism that threatens not only our country but others too.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to gaining a better understanding of the government than I already have in order to better appreciate the ignorance of the average american. How can we laugh at them if we don't know the truth ourselves?
ReplyDeleteTo finally understand the chaos in Lybia
ReplyDeleteI look forward to learning about current events. I would really like to get into how our government handles the threats in our world like terrorism. I would also like to understand the chaos that's going on outside of the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to learning about how our country deals with terrorism before and nowadays. I also want to learn about current events and just to learn more about the government and how it works.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn more about how laws are made on a state and federal level. And how an average citizen can go about changing laws. Also, I would like to learn what the FBI and CIA actualy do, not just what the movies depict them to be.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn about what the jobs/duties of people like Governors, Senators, and Representatives are. Also, I want to learn about the current goings on in our country and how they are effecting our generation as well as the ones that follow us
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn about how current events around the world effect our government and how the people react to our governments actions. Also, I would like to learn about how other governments differ to ours.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn more about international policy and how that is handled. Also, I would like to learn about events such as the revolution in Egypt and Libya.
ReplyDeleteAmongst other things we will learn about, I would like to focus on certain people in government and what their jobs are. Like Martha Coakley and Deval Patrick. Though I have seen both of these people and heard them produce great speeches, I would like to know more about what they do and their role in government.
ReplyDeleteThis year I want to learn more about the government in order to have a better understanding of how it works. I also want to have class discussions that relate current events to the materials we are studying in class. Two topics that I am interested in learning more about this year are terrorism, and the power of the people.
ReplyDeleteThis year, in Government class, I would like to learn about government. Also, I would like to learn how to write better blog posts.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn more about the country's immagration policy. Also I'd like to know more about the revolution in Egypt and the events in Libya.

ReplyDeleteIn government this year, I would like to learn more about the branches and what they do. Also what goes on within the FBI and CIA.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to learning more about the different branches of our government this year, also more about how our country deals with the issue of terrorism. I learned a lot about laws and how elections work at Girl's State but I would still like to become more educated about those aspects of the government.
ReplyDeleteI hope to gain a better insight about the specific reasons behind our carefully constructed democracy. I also would like to learn more about the unique triumphs and imperfections of this system. The ability to look back on past events and analyze them to make better decisions in the future is also a skill I hope to learn this year.
ReplyDeleteThis year, I'm mostly interested in studying and following current events, and hopefully developing a better understanding of the modern day world's politics. I would like to look at things through the eyes of different people and cultures, and learn more about them. Along with all of that, I'm looking forward to debates and in depth dicussions.
ReplyDeleteI would like to better understand current events and understand the laziness of our elected officials.
ReplyDeleteI’d like to learn more about the different branches of our government and what exactly each branch does. Also, I would like to learn about how laws are made and the process by which this happens.
ReplyDeleteThis year I hope to get a better understanding of how our government system works as a whole, and why there is such a divide among political parties. Also, I would like to discuss what might be the cause of Congress' inability to compromise on problems such as the deficit reduction, environmental issues, job creation, and health care.
ReplyDeleteThis year I want to learn more about how our government system became the powerhouse it is today. I want to understand how a government can stay stable even given the constant change the world is going through. Also I'm looking forward to dealing with current events that involve the united states and other countries.
ReplyDeleteThis year I would like to learn the pros and cons of our government along with other types.
ReplyDeleteIn government this year I want to learn more about terrorism and how the government deals with it because I am very interested in situations like 9/11. I also want to know in general how our government is more successful than governments in the middle east because Egypt had issues with their governments lately and many other governments have failed.
ReplyDeleteI've never truly understood government besides the basics so I would love to dive deep into the government and learn more about how it functions as well as how it addresses the different problems and challenges it faces.
ReplyDeleteIn signing up for this government class my interests (like many others) lie in learning about current events, how the FBI and CIA really work, and how the U.S. government deals with foreign/international policies and relations. I would like to explore the reasons behind why our government has come to be so unique and rare in the principles that make our country what it is.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in learning about current events, as well as our government's policies when it comes to "green" or alternative energy - as well as how our government has remained so stable despite all the changes the country, and world have undergone.
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm hoping to learn and take away from this class is a greater understanding of how our government works. I regularly follow the news in various mainstream and other "less-mainstream" media. I feel as though too many youths of our generation have no idea what is going on in the world--let alone our own country. I'm hoping that in this class we will examine the main issues facing our country today (energy, terrorism, the economy, the jobs crisis, and the housing market/meltdown of 2008) as well as more obscure issues that are just as important. I think it would be interesting to have a broadened view of how our government works and in what direction our country is headed in. I also hope that as a class, or as individuals (or groups)can in some way add to the global conversation on politics. It is our country after all, and we are going into the great unknown in a year, so why not dive in head first? Anyway, this is incredibly long. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that I hope we don't just cover the issues that even the "out-of-touch" kids know vaguely about, but are able to look into other media sources and dig up some interesting information on other important issues that we will be facing head on in the near future.
ReplyDeleteIn Government this year, I want to learn about how our government deals with critical issues, such as terrorism, immigration, and health care. I would also like to learn more about federal intelligence.

ReplyDeleteSo, I must be like one of the last ones to post on here because everyone that has posted already has basically said everything I was going to say... However, since I need to post on here, here it is. Taking government, I was looking forward to learning more about each of the branches of government, Although, I know the basic function of each of the parts, I want to learn more about their jobs and what each one entails in more detail. Just to name one thing, because I don't want to continue rambling.
ReplyDeleteIm looking forward to learning about how our government works and handles controversial issues, especially terrorism. I would also like to learn how our government compares with other types of governments.
ReplyDeleteNo Wayne I think I may be the last one haha.. I am looking forward to learning about our government and current events in it. I want to know what our government's involvement was in our current economic downfall or if they could have done something to help it. I also just want to have a better understanding of how our government actually works instead of just thinking I do
ReplyDeleteWell I am probably the last one now. This year I would like to learn about the different aspects of our government and some of the policies we have. I would also be interested in learning about candidates for the 2012 election and their thoughts and beliefs on certain issues that America faces
ReplyDeleteI'm posting again, because I wanted to add that it would be fun to focus one class on different states' Blue Laws.
ReplyDeleteI just want to learn about how the government operates so I can actually know what it is that I'm talking about.
